One question we often hear is, “Do I need to prepare my boiler for summer?” This is a great question, and I love to hear that my customers are considering the health of their boilers! However, in the Bay Area, where the seasons aren’t extreme, there isn’t much variance for the boilers between seasons. On the East Coast, people experience below freezing temperatures in the winter and very hot & humid summers. In contrast, we live in a mild climate, so for your boilers there is not a big difference between demands of winter and the demands of summer. In fact, in San Francisco summer can be just as cold as winter. As Mark Twain once said, “The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco.”
So what should I do?
As long as you are staying current with your scheduled maintenance, your system will be ready for the summer. Of course, I also recommend that you learn about how your system works. If you’re taking these steps, then your boiler should serve you well no matter what the season!
